12 Feb 2006 Sunday

We spent the morning uploading our photos into the new website location. Community Server has a few bugs, but it’s the best one Andrew found for us to use.

Our website is finally up!! Big Smile [:D] WHOOPEE!! Party!!! [<:o)] It has taken so long and we’ve had so many problems with different things…. I’m so glad it’s finally done! Now all we have to do is update a journal log or photo album and post it. We turned off the computers and jumped in the hot tub in time to watch the full moon rise over the snow capped mountains. Podcast 1 – Snow Fun

Teresa and Andrew having some fun snowshoeing around Cordillera, Edwards, Colorado.

Check the enclosure/Attachment(s) at the bottom of this entry for a video!

Here it is, our first podcast.  While I’ve been busy getting this Community Server thing up, Teresa has been busy working with Adobe Premiere Elements to create a fun video of us on our morning snowshoe hike.  Hope you guys enjoy it.

11 Feb 2006 Saturday

About 5 degrees (F) this morning.  We saw a coyote walking on the golf trail outside this morning.  It’s too cold to snowshoe this morning, so we decide to take a day off.  We went into the Chef’s Corner at the Cordillera Market for some high speed Wi-Fi and a cup of tea.  We got a lot accomplished on the website today.  Our connection is slow at the house and with both of us trying to upload and modify online, it was taking a long time.Sad [:(]

We went into Edwards and, on a whim, stopped at the Thrift Store.  We finally found a store in Edwards we can afford!  Andrew was drooling over a wall of ski boots for $25.00 a pair.  I looked into some warmer hats for both of us. Big Smile [:D]  We were there about an hour before closing, so we had to leave, but we’ll be back.  They had some great deals on “pre-loved” winter snow gear, something we don’t have much of!

We’ve been working on this website for so long… I hope we can get it up and running tomorrow.  Andrew got my first video uploaded yesterday and had his mom preview it.  He said she was laughing hysterically on the phone when she saw it.  I take that as a good sign.Party!!! [<:o)]

10 Feb 2006 Friday

We got out for an early snowshoe hike on Camino del Norte again.  It was much easier because we packed the trail yesterday and it was quicker because we weren’t shooting any videos.  It looked like snow was coming our way, but we didn’t get any.  It was much colder than it’s been the last several days.

We went into the city of Edwards for some groceries and run some errands.  The grocery store at Edwards was shocking! The selection was limited and the prices were outrageous!  We ended up paying over $8.00 for two cantaloupes (I didn’t realize they were charging by the pound!).  On a better note, we went by Ptarmigan Sports again and I traded my snowshoes for longer ones.  It seems you need longer snowshoes for more “float” on softer snow.  It got really cold, low expected between 0 and -10 degrees (F) tonight.

09 Feb 2006 Thursday

We took a linger snowshoe hike along a trail called Camino del Norte (North Trail) and took some videos and photos along the way to play with.  When we got back, I spent most of the afternoon and evening putting them into a video I called “Snow Fun with T & A”.  I think it looks pretty cool, especially for half a day’s work and learning the program at the same time.  We walked up to the local pub, the Grouse on the Green, to get out for a minute and have a beer.  But the Grouse was closed, so we came back to the house and had a beer (or two).Beer [B]Beer [B]

08 Feb 2006 Wednesday

We took a short walk on the golf trail this morning.  We had to be back for a maintenance man checking on a few things at the house.  We were on the computers again all afternoon.  I’m learning how to edit videos we’ve taken with our camera with Adobe Premiere Elements.

Colorado – Photo Gallery updates

Hi All…

We are in Colorado for 2 weeks, snowshoeing in the morning and working on the website in the afternoon / evening. In the next day or two, we hope to have a new website up at http://adventure.koransky.com/ running on Community Server blogging and gallery software. However, in the meantime, Teresa has been posting pictures to our photo gallery. Until we get our software up, check our photo gallery often for updates.

07 Feb 2006 Tuesday

We tried out our snowshoes this morning.  We got the bindings on without any trouble and within the first few minutes I was in love!  We’ve got to get some of these!!  We learned a few things very quickly: groomed trails, like the golf cart trail out the back door, is easiest; packed trails that have been walked before are a little more challenging, but still fun; and fresh powder is the hardest to walk in.  Another thing I learned quickly… you don’t back up in snow shoes!  I tried to take a picture of Andrew, was too close, so I tried to back up and fell flat on my butt.  We tried to break trail through fresh powder and we were sinking over our knees with every step.  We backtracked and took the path instead.  We came inside, rested and started working on the website again.  It seems we keep running into problems…

06 Feb 2006 Monday

We got out and played in the snow this morning.  There’s a big drift on the back deck that we made a snow cave out of – then destroyed it.  We went for a walk around the neighborhood, then worked on the computers.  Andrew’s been researching a new server to handle our website.  We’ve decided we need to work out in the morning and then work on the computers on the afternoon.  Otherwise, we spend the whole day inside on the computers and feel like crap.  We went into town and ran a few errands.  We rented some snowshoes from Ptarmigan Sports in Edwards and we’re going to try them out tomorrow.

05 Feb 2006 Sunday

It snowed last night.  Andrew and I went for a walk this morning.  We tried to walk on the golf cart path, but we soon post-holed in snow well over our knees.  The snow plows are out, so we continue our walk on the roads around the neighborhood.  We got a surprise call from Bill Martin, someone we met on Cumberland Island recently.  It was good to hear from him, we seemed to have some things in common.  We’ll have to stop by when we’re in North Carolina, probably in the late fall.
