Chick's Voices - Our First KHEN Broadcast

As I've mentioned before, we have a very cool local community radio station here in Salida: KHEN-LP 106.9 (website).  I've been spending many hours straightening out the KHEN computers, the KHEN network, and getting their radio automation software up and running.  It's fun working with all the good folks down at the station.

Just last night, we did our first radio broadcast on KHEN-LP 106.9 Salida, CO.  The DJ for a program called Chick's Voices was out of town and asked us to sub for her second hour.  (With a name like KHEN, shows names generally have something to do with chickens.  My favorite show name is "Mechanically Separated."  Big Smile)  We were pretty darn nervous, but started relaxing a bit towards the end.  Attached is a low quality (48kbps to protect artists' interests) copy of the show.

Where is the audio? Check enclosure/Attachment(s) links at the bottom of this entry for the audio!

Here is our play list:

I just got around to listening to this one.  Very good job!  Not only were you good on the air, but the music was fantastic.  I really liked the first and the last songs.  I had to go buy that "Oh, Atlanta" while it was still playing!

I just missed the live show (saw the post 12 mins after you went off the air), but hope to catch the next one.

Thanks Ben... nice to have the kind comments.  We were very nervous on our first show.  It will take a bit of time to get over our fears.  Nice to know we have a listener or two though.

Have you ever heard the original White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane (the classic 60's drug anthem)?  We considered playing them back to back.  I frankly like the Blue Man Group version better... it just seems to have so much more passion.

An there's nothing like the voice of Alison Krauss.  You may already know this but "Oh Atlanta" is a cover too.  Originally written by Bad Company.

I guess we kinda had an Atlanta theme for the show... a good bit of that music came from Atlanta... our roots I suppose.

hehe of course I've heard the original White Rabbit, but I didn't realized that Alison Krauss' was a cover until I started searching for it.

Did anyone notice the Atlantian theme?

I couldn't imagine any other of my friends more suited to be DJ's than you two.  Keep up the good work.
