General posts and commentary relating to Teresa and Andrew's travels and homestead adventures. This blog is targeted at a general audience.

Random Thoughts #2

Subject to change.... Ad nauseum... at least that's how things are going as far as our home plans are concerned. That's the bad news. The good news is that things are cheap to change right now in the design phases.  The only cost is Teresa's time and patience.  Wink  I've attached a snapshot of our current plan, but it will most certainly change.  And yes, we know there are no doors on some of the closets. Stick out tongue

And a couple of random notes...

I wanted to mention a blog that Teresa and I both enjoy:  www.waiterrant.net.  It's basically an anonymous waiter relaying the stories of his trials and tribulations working at a restaurant.  Sounds boring, right?  But he manages to dig deeper.  Like many other popular writers of our time (IE Bill Bryson or John Grogan), he's a keen observer, finds humor in the mundane, and expresses it beautifully in well written prose.  Yes, sometimes it is a bit harsh, but then again, so is the restaurant business.  Sometimes it is a bit honest and politically incorrect, but it is always in good fun.  It's definitely a fun blog to keep up with.  We are very much looking forward to his upcoming book.  Well done waiter!

Also, Teresa and I saw another awesome music talent come through Salida:  Strings of Tao.  They remind me of a cross between David Grisman, Bela Fleck, and clasical chamber music.  They call it "chamber grass," and the term is pretty accurate.  It may be too experimental for some ears... they wander off into bizarre territory (think Grateful Dead or Medeski, Martin and Wood), but they always come back to the main theme of the song they're performing with flair.  Unfortunately, this is a group of musicians who are involved in many other projects and they rarely get together, but when they do, some impressive things happen.  And so we continue to be amazed with the level of talent that makes its way to this small town.
